Working in a law firm

My work experience was from the thirteenth till the seventeenth of April. It was in a law firm in Saint-Pierre, a neighboring city. I’ve chosen to experience this job because a lawyer defends his/her clients. S/he goes to the court every day and s/he wears the dress of a lawyer obviously.
I’d like to become a midwife so this job isn’t related to my future career. But for my work experience I didn’t have any choice because we cannot do a work experience in a hospital. So I’ve chosen a law firm because I didn’t know exactly what being a lawyer means.
Indeed a lawyer is someone who defends his/her clients and gives legal advice. S/he comes to the court and helps his/her clients. For example if a man kills another, the lawyer helps him to avoid a severe punishment because when you make an offence you must have a punishment.
To become a lawyer you must get a master degree in law.
I like this job but it’s difficult when the offence of the clients is so important that a lawyer must wait for a long time between the audiences. The world of work is great although I think it is too complicated.
